A man is charged with highway shootings in North Carolina’s capital city

A man accused of shooting at occupied cars on a busy North Carolina highway, hurting one person, has been charged with assault and other offenses, authorities said Friday.

The 23-year-old suspect was charged with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and 11 counts of shooting a weapon into an occupied vehicle or dwelling, according to a Raleigh police news release.

A second individual apprehended during the man’s detention has been freed without charge. Police stated Thursday that the second individual was present at the house when the suspect was apprehended.
