Jake Paul makes a controversial admission after defeating Mike Tyson

During their heated altercation, which the YouTuber won on points, Jake Paul seemed to acknowledge that his goal was just to slightly injure Mike Tyson.

In eight two-minute rounds, Paul, 27, overcame Tyson, 58, with scorecards that read 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73 in his favor. Despite boxing Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition in 2020, the bout was Tyson’s first professional fight since the heavyweight legend retired in 2005.

Paul was charged with withdrawing his punches against Tyson during Friday’s fight, which was broadcast live on Netflix from AT&T Stadium in Texas.

Paul said, “I was trying to injure him a little bit,” in response to a question about this in his post-fight interview. I was trying to hurt him because I was afraid he would hurt me.

As supporters poured out of AT&T Stadium, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, Paul’s response came across as sly. But a lot of admirers had already departed by then.

When questioned if he had slowed down in the later rounds during the post-fight news conference, Paul said, “Yeah, definitely, definitely a bit.” I didn’t want to hurt someone who didn’t deserve it, but I still wanted to amuse the audience.

Paul added that throughout the fight, he never felt Tyson’s strength.

Paul’s professional record now stands at 11-1 after the 27-year-old defeated lesser-known boxers and a number of mixed martial arts celebrities.

Paul said, “Anyone I want [] everyone is next on the list,” in response to the question of who he would face next. He added, “This is the biggest event, with over 120 million people watching on Netflix.” The website crashed because of us.
