According to authorities, deputies in Sebring, Florida, were called to a horrifying crime scene on Friday that they could not have been prepared for by their prior law enforcement training.

According to the Highland County Sheriff’s Office, Diane Natasha Mack, 34, a former guardian ad litem (GAL) for the Florida Department of Children and Families, called police to report the death of her 13-year-old adopted daughter after finding her unconscious on a floor at their home in the Sun n Lake of Sebring golf and recreation community early Friday at 12:19 a.m.

It will be hard to forget what the authorities found there, according to Highlands County Sheriff Paul Blackman.

In a sheriff’s office video announcing Mack’s arrest on accusations of murder and child abuse, Blackman stated, “This is one of the most disturbing crime scenes I have encountered in more than 30 years of law enforcement.” I can’t find the right words to describe the nightmare this child’s life must have been.

According to Blackman, deputies allegedly found Mack’s kid dead inside her house, only wearing a diaper and displaying obvious symptoms of abuse and neglect.

According to the sheriff, Mack adjusted her timeframe to around 3 p.m. after initially telling police she found the girl on Thursday morning.

Blackman described Mack’s daughter as being severely underweight and thin. Her body was covered in open wounds that were obviously fresh, as well as wounds in various stages of healing.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies found evidence that the homeschooled girl had been locked up in the garage before she passed away.

According to Blackman, we don’t yet know how long she had been there, but it seems she was chained to the garage door and watched from inside the house by a surveillance camera installed inside the garage.

Blackman claims that Mack tried to erase the evidence in the garage with pool chlorine while her child was dead on the floor, and then she called 911. Before contacting the authorities, she allegedly drove at least four of her other children to a house near Titusville.

Mack was taken into custody and accused of kidnapping, destroying evidence, and aggravated child abuse in addition to first-degree murder.

According to Mr. Blackman, it is the responsibility of parents to love their children and ensure that they are safe. It is terrible and distressing to witness a child handled in this manner.

Even more startling is the fact that the suspect served as a guardian ad litem in addition to being a former employee of the Department of Children and Families.

It seems inconceivable that someone whose responsibility it was to ensure the welfare of children could behave in such a manner toward their own child.

Mack is being held at the Highlands County Jail without being granted bail.
