The civil lawsuit against the former Butler County auditor has been dismissed

A civil lawsuit filed against former Butler County Auditor Roger Reynolds has been dismissed, according to court records.

Roger was acquitted on all criminal charges. The civil case has been dismissed. Roger has consistently denied the allegations leveled against him.

In a statement to FOX19 NOW, attorney Andrew N. Yosowitz stated that Roger will discuss his next steps soon.

Gerald Parks, 93, sued Reynolds, both of Liberty Township, in his personal and professional capacities in September 2021, accusing him of interfering with development deals and removing agricultural-related tax breaks from his property.

Parks lawyer later filed an amended lawsuit with fewer claims, but the judge dismissed nearly all of them. The remaining one was scheduled for trial early next year.

Parks lawyer filed a notice of dismissal with prejudice on Thursday, indicating that the lawsuit, which sought $1.35 million, cannot be refiled, according to court records. The case is now closed, according to the court docket.

According to the court filing, both parties will pay their respective costs.

An attorney for Parks did not return verbal or written requests for comment.

Reynolds 2022 felony conviction was overturned by an appeals court earlier this year, and the Ohio Supreme Court fully exonerated him of any criminal wrongdoing.

He can now run for public office again in Ohio.

Chad Ziepfel, his criminal defense attorney, has repeatedly stated that the charges are false and politically motivated.

Reynolds was appointed county auditor in April 2008, elected to a full term in November 2008, and re-elected in 2010, 2014, and 2018.

He was also re-elected in November 2022, despite being under indictment and less than a month from trial.

Reynolds sought reinstatement to public office after the Supreme Court exonerated him, but the state s highest court declined.
