Early last month, third baseman Kris Bryant of the Colorado Rockies had his $300,000 Lamborghini stolen.

Bryant’s home in Las Vegas was supposed to receive the gray 2023 Lamborghini Huracan Coupe Tecnica from Cherry Hills Village in Denver, but it never did. According to The Denver Gazette, a multi-agency investigation was launched when the automobile was reported stolen on October 2.

Bryant was identified as the owner of the missing car by Cherry Hills Village Police Department Detective Justin Smith. The agency learned that the transportation company had been hacked and vehicles had been diverted without permission using a business email approach.

On October 7, authorities located the license plate and retrieved the car from Desert Inn Road in collaboration with the Los Angeles Metropolitan Police Department. According to the publication, Dat Viet Tieu, 58, a Vietnamese national residing in Katy, Texas, has been apprehended as a suspect in the crime.

Eventually, police discovered a network of luxury automobile thieves that Tieu allegedly planned, trading the cars with fake documents. In addition, a 2024 Yukon Denali and a $400,000 Rolls-Royce Cullinan that had been reported lost in California were seized by Las Vegas police.

Tieu is accused with two felonies: possessing and disseminating stolen vehicles. He may spend up to 20 years in prison and be fined $20,000 if found guilty. On February 4, a preliminary hearing is scheduled.

Regarding the case, Bryant has remained silent.

After the car was found, Jason Lyons, the chief of the Cherry Hills Village Police Department, said, “This case highlights the Cherry Hills Village Police Department’s commitment to protecting the community from sophisticated criminal schemes.”

Suspects were apprehended and returned stolen goods to its rightful owner thanks to the hard work of CHVPD’s crime analyst, detectives, officers, and cooperative partnerships with local and national agencies.
