Andrew Wiggins scores 27 points, Stephen Curry adds 23 as Warriors beat Hawks 120-97

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Atlanta Hawks 120-97 on Wednesday night thanks to 27 points from Andrew Wiggins, 23 points from Stephen Curry, and eight assists from Curry.

Buddy Hield scored 11 points off the bench, and Trayce Jackson-Davis finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Trae Young produced a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists, while Jalen Johnson led the Hawks with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Draymond Green, who had made many 3-pointers in each of the previous five games, finished with nine points, nine assists, and seven rebounds for the Warriors despite going 0 for 4 from beyond the arc. Wiggins and Green each had two shots blocked.

After being struck in the face during the fourth quarter, guard Brandin Podziemski exited the game and never came back. The x-rays of Podziemski’s nose, which he shattered in a preseason game, came back negative, according to coach Steve Kerr.

Hawks: Since a 124-108 victory on March 26, 2021, Atlanta has not triumphed at home against the Warriors.

Warriors: De’Anthony Melton, who will have season-ending surgery on his left knee due to a partially torn ACL, was replaced by Lindy Waters III, who scored 10 points.

With 4:36 remaining in the first quarter, Jonathan Kuminga stole the ball from Bogdan Bogdanovic and hit Hield for a transition dunk. Less than a minute later, Kuminga helped Hield make a 3-pointer that put the Warriors ahead 29–17 and set up an Atlanta timeout. After the first, Golden State had a 41–22 lead.

Golden State led 67-42 at the half after Atlanta committed 11 first-half mistakes, which led to 15 points for the Warriors, including a basket by Andrew Wiggins to beat the halftime buzzer.
