According to cops, a Texas mom left her baby home alone, covered in feces, to travel 400 miles and meet her Hinge date

After driving 400 miles for a Hinge date, a Texas mother was accused of abandoning her infant home unaccompanied and soiled in excrement.

Reese Louise Myers, 25, was accused by Killeen police of abandoning or endangering a kid.

The incident happened in July, and according to The Independent, the mother was arrested on a fugitive warrant by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office in California on November 5 and then extradited to Texas.

Concerns regarding the welfare of a child prompted police to respond to 600 W Hallmark Ave in Killeen, Texas, four months prior on July 28 at around 9:50 a.m.

According to a witness who spoke with police, a 16-month-old was observed loitering close to a broken window after an aggressive dog tried to attack them.

According to the report, when authorities got to the site, they saw the toddler hanging from the window, which had been repaired with cardboard and plexiglass sheeting and was not broken.

According to Killeen police, when officers arrived at the house, they discovered the youngster in a t-shirt, barely clothed, with feces on the child’s skin and what seemed to be diaper rash.

The baby had been left on the property with two dogs, according to a search of the apartment.

Myers, the mother of the 16-month-old, allegedly admitted to investigators that she had gone to San Antonio the previous day, July 27, to meet up with a man she had been corresponding with on a dating website.

An affidavit that KWTX was able to obtain states that Hinge was used to plan the encounter.

The mother had intended to meet the man via a dating app, but Killeen PD did not specify which one.

Investigators said that the mother informed them that a babysitter she located on Facebook was taking care of the child. Authorities told Myers to go back to Killeen, Texas.

When authorities got in touch with the purported babysitter, she revealed that she hadn’t heard from the suspected mother since December 2023.

Police said that Facebook messages viewed by Killeen Police Department verified the pair’s absence of communication and that their most recent interaction took place in December 2023.

The 16-month-old was brought into the custody of Child Protective Services after undergoing a medical examination at Advent Health in Killeen.

Myers was charged with child neglect after Special Victims Unit investigators brought the case to the attention of the Bell County District Attorney’s Office, which issued a complaint.

Ultimately, Myers was taken into custody and placed in the Bells County Jail.
