The body of a 6-year-old kid who vanished on Wednesday has been found by Ohio public safety officers.
Police and fire authorities in West Chester Township reported late Thursday night that Joshua Al-Lateef’s body had been found in a pond close to his apartment complex.
West Chester Township Fire Chief Rick Prinz stated, “We wish and pray for them going forward, and all public safety in Butler County is grieving with the family tonight.”
According to authorities, Joshua, who was set to be seven next week, was last seen on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. close to his family’s Wyndtree Drive residence.
An emergency call tape shows that his older brother reported the boy missing to 911 on Wednesday.
Joshua was with his older sister when the police reported him missing from their apartment complex after his bus driver dropped him off earlier in the day.
Tree lines, dumpsters, and other places where the kid might have sought refuge from the cold were examined by hundreds of volunteers. First responders deployed boots on the ground and drones in the air.
Prior to the discovery of the boy’s body, Prinz conjectured that Joshua, who was diagnosed with autism, was drawn to one of the several retention ponds on the property where he lived because he was fascinated by water.
According to Prinz, teams are physically in the water and on the water with boats because they map out the lake in a grid layout and thoroughly explore each grid.
One of the volunteers that assisted was Lindsay Amyx. She clarified that she felt obliged to help with the hunt because she was a mother.
I know what this mother is going through because I have two kids. “I feel it in my heart when it’s cold outside because I have a 19-year-old who is also autistic,” Amyx added. All I want is to support him and his family.
Although the investigation is still ongoing, police stated early Thursday that they have no cause to suspect foul play is involved.
