Police were called to a parking lot close to the 26000 block of Gading Road at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday to look into an incident that involved a car and a pedestrian. When they got there, they found a man hurt.
The man had fainted in the parking lot, officers found out. He was resting on the ground when a car turned in the area and struck him. Reports state that the vehicle struck the man without seeing him.
The pedestrian was still breathing and aware when the authorities arrived on the scene, according to the police.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital for treatment, but his condition rapidly worsened, and he was declared dead there.
The 52-year-old motorist, who lived in Hayward, complied with the authorities.
Police say the deceased man’s identify will be made public by the Alameda County Coroner’s Office.
