Chiefs focus After allegedly committing sex crimes against three women, the manager of a San Jose boxing gym was arrested on felony sexual assault charges, according to the prosecution.
Tristan Arfi, 42, of San Jose was taken into custody Thursday morning and is accused of seven counts of criminal sexual assault, according to the office of Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen. Arfi is the manager and chief operating officer of South First Street’s YBX Fitness.
In a statement, Rosen added, “This predator has been arrested thanks to courageous victims and the San Jose Police Department.” “Our job as prosecutors will be to make sure he does not hurt anyone else ever again.”
Two victims independently stated that Arfi had sexually assaulted them at the gym, according to a joint investigation by the San Jose police department and the district attorney’s office. The suspect allegedly offered both victims a complimentary private massage before engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with them.
Arfi is also charged with trying to coerce a gym worker. He wouldn’t pay for the job unless she sent him naked pictures of herself, the woman informed the police.
Investigators were informed by gym staff that they had to sign a non-disclosure agreement and that he threatened to sue them if they spoke about what they had seen there.
According to the prosecution, non-disclosure agreements that prohibit witnesses from sharing information about illegal activity at work are unconstitutional in California.
The DA’s office claims that Arfi has a history of sexual offenses. He was found guilty of felony sexual assault in 2019 for performing obscene activities on a juvenile at a Menlo Park boxing facility.
Arfi’s arraignment is set for December 23. He might spend years behind bars if found guilty.
