Timothy Oliver Lee, Lee’s brother, thanked the friends who testified and related anecdotes that helped the audience visualize Bob’s characteristics.
“I think he would have appreciated his friends coming here, coming under fire, and opening up their lives to scrutiny,” Timothy stated. “I think he would have been very proud.”

“He could be really amazing at diffusing a situation, reminding two people in a relationship fighting that you love each other,” a third witness, who claimed to have known Lee since 2017, said, adding that Lee was “not someone who would get aggressive.”
The relevance of this testimony was emphasized by attorney Shannan Dugan, who stated that it could directly contradict the defense’s assertion that Lee behaved aggressively the evening of the deadly altercation with Momeni.
“It had the power today to do great damage to the defense and Nima Momeni’s testimony,” Dugan stated.
Momeni’s defense is based on his claim that Lee made a “bad joke” that hurt Lee’s family, which caused him to become unpredictable and violent while high on cocaine and ketamine. After Lee allegedly lunged at him with a knife, Momenihas said he acted in self-defense.
Testimony from the prosecution, however, refuted this storyline. Even when under the influence of drugs, friends said that Lee was not the kind to argue physically or criticize other people.
“The jury’s question in this case,” Dugan said, “is whether Bob Lee was the kind of person who would carry a knife to the crime site, conceal it, and act violently. The answer was emphatically no, based on the testimony given today.
Lee’s family is struggling to deal with their loss as Thanksgiving draws near. “The family will keep a seat open for Bob at their table,” said Lee’s brother Oliver, reflecting on the bittersweet aspect of the occasion.
“This Thanksgiving, we will really miss him. You know, it’s going to be a smaller table,” he stated.
Closing arguments are set for December 2, and the trial has been postponed for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The jury will next hear the closing arguments from both sides and decide whether to convict or acquit Momeni.
