Like the Virgin Mary’: Accused killer thanks ‘Saran Wrap’ for helping him impregnate a fellow inmate without ever meeting her

Despite never having met in person, two Florida murder suspects told a local television station that one of them pregnant the other while they were both in prison.

From within the Miami-Dade County Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation institutions, Daisy Link, 29, and Joan Depaz, 23, spoke to the local Fox affiliate WVSN. Charged with second-degree murder, Link is accused of killing her spouse in 2022.

But last Christmas, she called her family to let them know that she was pregnant while incarcerated at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. In June, she gave birth to a girl. The infant is being cared after by family members.

Link earlier informed her family that the prisoner impregnated her by putting his sperm through an air conditioner vent wrapped in plastic wrap.

Link and his father, Depaz, went into more detail about the incident in an interview with WVSN. According to Link, she started talking to Depaz over their cells’ air conditioning vents.

This is related coverage: As she recalled, “you start to spend hours and hours talking to this person after being in isolation for a long time, to the point where it’s almost like you’re in the same room with them.”

Then they fell in love, and Depaz declared that he wanted to have children. He reasoned that he might not be released right away because he was imprisoned on a first-degree murder charge.

So the two came up with a scheme. They said they had tied bed linens together and stuffed them into their cells through the vents.

Depaz told the TV station, “I wrapped the semen in Saran wrap five times a day for about a month straight.”

Link clarified: I would pull it through the line we had in the vent after he rolled it up, almost like a cigarette, and attached it to it. After that, I put it into the applicators for yeast infections. I inserted it into the applicator before giving the drug.

The couple claims that she unexpectedly became pregnant.

The two seemed pleased with their achievement.

“She is a blessing and a miracle baby,” Link said.

When asked if he d ever physically touched Link, Depaz went Biblical.

“Never,” he said, “like the Virgin Mary.”

According to the television station, the jail is still investigating how this happened.

As previously reported by Law&Crime, Link allegedly shot her husband in the leg on June 25, 2022, outside their homestead.

I think I hit a major artery; you ll be fine, a video allegedly shows Link telling the husband, who later died.

Details about Depaz s case were not immediately available.

Both remain in jail awaiting their trials.
