The family of a 6-year-old autistic kid who unintentionally drowned in West Chester on Thursday is receiving financial support from local business owners.

Joshua Al-Lateef Jr.’s family is receiving financial donations from J. Mel, owner of J. Mel’s VIP Barber Lounge, and Naiyozcsia Thomason, owner of Mz. Jades Soulfood.

It struck a deep chord and had a significant influence. The community’s strong response, in my opinion, can be attributed to their ability to relate. “We would like to be present,” Thomason said.

After witnessing the community come together in support of the boy’s family, J. Mel stated his wish to help. In order to support the Al-Lateef family, the barbershop will donate its services for the upcoming week.

According to J. Mel, “I thought that would be the perfect time to take 10% of whatever I make to donate to go to whatever it is they need to cover during this time.” Thanksgiving week is a very busy time for me at the barbershop.

Two years ago, Thomason says, he started a non-profit organization called Soul Kids that gives Christmas presents to youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds. She is spending those cash to support Joshua’s family this year.

According to Thomson, I didn’t even consider it because the Lord had placed a desire on my heart to bless Joshua’s family.

On Sunday, Thomason intends to give Joshua’s mother the money she saved from the non-profit.

I have a lot of hope for people and the globe because of the community’s support for this mother. I adore it. “It’s incredible,” Thomason remarked.

Joshua will have a candlelight vigil at the Lakefront at West Chester Apartments on Sunday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
