Warriors lose to Thunder 105-101 with Curry out with pain in both knees

On Wednesday night, the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Curry-less Golden State Warriors 105-101, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scoring 35 points and Jalen Williams leaving the game late in the first half due to a right eye injury.

With eleven seconds remaining, Andrew Wiggins scored a 3-pointer to cut the game to one point. Luguentz Dort blocked Wiggins on a game-tying layup after Gilgeous-Alexander missed a free throw at the other end.

Gilgeous-Alexander shot 13 for 28 in Oklahoma City’s (14-4) third consecutive victory, building on his 37-point effort from Monday’s 130-109 victory against Sacramento.

After missing two games due to illness, Kuminga came back to start for the Warriors (12–6), who were without Stephen Curry because of knee soreness in both knees. Kuminga scored a team-high 19 points.

With 39 seconds remaining in the first half, Jonathan Kuminga dunked over Williams, injuring him. During intermission, the Thunder star was spotted with an ice pack on his eye area. He hobbled to the locker room and never came back.

Thunder: Oklahoma City took advantage of Golden State’s 11 first-half turnovers to score 15 points.

Warriors: After defeating the Pelicans twice and Houston while the two-time MVP missed time due to a left foot injury, Golden State fell to 3-1 without Curry this season.

With 5:40 seconds left in the second quarter, Draymond Green received his sixth technical foul of the season. A one-game penalty is automatically imposed after sixteen technicals.

Buddy Hield of Golden State finished 5 for 8 from beyond the arc, passing Dirk Nowitzki (1,982) for 18th place on the NBA’s all-time three-point shooting list and coming within one basket of tying Jason Kidd (1,988) for 17th.
