According to authorities, a GPS tracker assisted San Francisco officers in apprehending a suspected burglar.
Someone claimed that on November 15, while her car was parked in a garage in the 500 block of Filbert Street, it was broken into. She said that valuable medical equipment was stolen from a duffel bag along with other items.
On November 21, police said the woman used GPS to track her possessions to the 800 block of Pacific Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an occupied truck parked where the stolen property had been traced via GPS. They allegedly discovered the stolen goods, including the medical equipment, when they went up to the truck’s occupant.
The stolen stuff was restored to its owner after officers arrested the culprit and confiscated it.
Officers said they knew the detained suspect, James Peros, 53, who was wanted for breaking into a commercial office in the 200 block of Sutter Street on October 13.
After being taken to the San Francisco County Jail, Peros was charged with burglary, grand theft, and methamphetamine possession.
