Early Friday morning, a septic tanker truck was involved in a solo-vehicle rollover collision south of Calistoga that resulted in the spilling of diesel fuel into an adjacent ditch and the injuries of two people. A hazmat crew was called to the area.

According to the Cal Fire, the collision happened at approximately 5:21 a.m. on the 4500 block of Silverado Trail North, south of Calistoga, in unincorporated Napa County.

Cal Fire firefighters, CHP officers, and Napa County Fire Department firefighters responded and had to remove two persons from the truck.

#CloverIncident (Rollover Accident with Hazard): Calistoga Fire, AMR, CHP-Napa, and CAL FIRE/Napa County Fire responded.

According to Cal Fire, an air ambulance from the Sonoma County Fire District airlifted one person with serious injuries to a hospital.

The other was admitted to the hospital with moderate injuries.

When it was discovered that the vehicle had spilled roughly 30 gallons of diesel fuel into a ditch, along with soap and water, a Napa County interagency hazmat team called Hazmat-27, run by Cal Fire, arrived on the scene.

They found that the fuel did not reach a neighboring brook and managed to limit the spill.

Cal Fire claims that the truck’s septic tank did not burst.

Notification has been sent to the Napa County Environmental Health Division, the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

CHP reported that after the crash and hazardous reaction, Silverado Trail North was closed between Larkmead and Dunaweal lanes.
