Three young individuals from the East Bay neighborhood were killed in a terrible Tesla Cybertruck crash in Piedmont, California, on Wednesday morning. The mother of the survivor named her son and the three victims on Friday.

The collision on Hampton Road and King Avenue in Piedmont, a small neighborhood enmeshed in Oakland, happened shortly after three in the morning on Wednesday.

According to Piedmont police, the Cybertruck had crashed into a tree and was engulfed in flames when cops arrived. At the scene, three of the car’s occupants were declared dead. The driver of a car behind the Cybertruck at the time of the collision rescued a fourth person from the flaming vehicle, according to officials.

The mother of the only survivor of the horrific incident named her son and the three people who perished in the collision in an interview with CBS News Bay Area reporter Da Lin on Friday.

Late Friday morning, Jordan Miller’s mother, Samantha Miller, reported that her son was back in surgery. She verified that he is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin, aged 20.

Miller stated, “We’re just taking it day by day,” It’s a terrible scenario, as you could anticipate. We’re all thinking about the children who passed away, you know. Even if they are no longer children, they are still children to us.

The identities of the other three youths who perished in the collision were also verified by Miller. Krysta Tsukahara was the female victim, and Jack Nelson and Soren Dixon were the two male victims. After graduating from Piedmont High in 2023, all three of the crash victims were sophomores at their respective universities.

Miller expressed her and her family’s gratitude to the Piedmont community for their outpouring of support and condolences.

“Piedmont is a wonderful community,” Miller remarked. “We have many close friends, and they’ve been incredibly kind.”

All of the crash victims were spending Thanksgiving at home after attending college. Piedmont Police Chief Jeremy Bowers stated on Wednesday that the Cybertruck may have been moving too quickly when it struck the roadside retaining wall before colliding with the tree, while the cause of the collision is still being investigated.

He claimed that it was obvious that speed played a role in the collision.

“Speed was undoubtedly a contributing aspect. Are there any additional elements involved now? “Speed is probably a contributing factor in this collision, but that is definitely possible,” Bowers said.

Bowers stated that there was no indication of any technical issues with the vehicle or that the Cybertruck’s lithium battery contributed to the incident, but that other facts surrounding the cause of the collision and the ensuing fire were still being investigated.

“We’re very new into this investigation — the California Highway Patrol, us, the Piedmont Fire Department — so there’s no indication that there were mechanical effects that were the primary cause for the collision,” stated Bowers. “All that is still very much under investigation at this point.”

Piedmont, a small community, is grieving over the death of three bright young adults in a fatal crash.

The annual Turkey Trot event, which was held Thursday morning, brought the community together and served as a memorial for the tragic victims.

Heartbroken Jen Cavanaugh, the mayor of Piedmont, paused to honor the college students.

“I went to bed last night thinking the words might come today for what to say,” Cavenaugh added. As it turned out, there are no words that can make this all better or bring these kids back to us. There are no adequate words to express the depth of grief experienced by families who have lost loved ones. We cannot put into words how much these children mean to us.
