According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency data, a staggering 58,626 – 7.7% – of the 759,218 illegal-border crossers the feds knew were in the Big Apple as of Nov. 17 were either convicted of a crime before or were facing criminal charges.
Additionally, the government claims that 1,053 of the 58,626 migrants with rap sheets—nearly 2%—are suspected or confirmed gang members.
Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-Brooklyn/Staten Island) blamed President Biden and other Democrats’ lax border control and soft-on-crime policies for the startling statistics.
Malliotakis, the only Republican to represent the left-leaning Big Apple, said it’s astounding that Democrats have gone to such lengths to house gang members, drug traffickers, and other criminals who are in our nation illegally.
They have frequently provided them with food, shelter, and medical attention. They should collaborate with ICE to deport criminals who are causing trouble on the streets rather than wasting tax dollars from New Yorkers to defend them.
Malliotakis added that she has been requesting the same information from the NYPD since the start of the year using the Freedom of Information Law, but they continue to refuse her requests.
