Authorities have arrested a teenager for allegedly killing another teen at an Orange County park over the weekend.
Officers from the Anaheim Police Department were dispatched to a local hospital around 8:30 p.m. Sunday after the 16-year-old victim was brought in for treatment of at least one gunshot wound, according to an APD news release.
It was unclear how he was transported to the hospital.
According to the initial investigation, the boy was at John Marshall Park in the 2000 block of West La Palma Avenue about 30 minutes before being confronted by a group of suspects.
“One of the suspects produced a handgun and shot the boy at least once,” Anaheim police reported.
Following further investigation, the gunman was identified as 19-year-old Samuel Galeno.
Galeno, an Anaheim resident, was arrested without incident after a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 1800 block of West Tamara Lane.
According to police, he was booked into the Anaheim Detention Facility on murder charges. He’s being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
Detectives declined to discuss the killing’s motive.
