According to the Lebanon Division of Police, a baby girl was put in the Safe Haven Baby Box on Monday, prompting their response.
Women can safely and discreetly turn in their newborns without being questioned at Fire Station 41 thanks to the box.
The founder of the company claims that the girl was the first infant to be delivered to an Ohio Safe Haven Baby Box.
According to the police, when technicians arrived at the warning, they discovered the girl inside the Safe Haven Baby Box.
Following the system’s instructions, the Lebanon Fire Department moved the baby to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
To avoid alert failures, the Safe Haven Baby Box has three alarms: one on the entrance, one within the box, and one inside the case. According to Ohio state law, the boxes must always be watched. In 2023, it will open.
“The parent who dropped off the infant cannot be penalized as long as the child is unharmed and 30 days old or younger,” said Monica Kelsey, founder of Safe Haven Baby Box.
Additionally, Kelsey wrote to WLWT, “I would like to thank this woman.” We appreciate you entrusting the Lebanon Fire Department and Safe Haven Baby Boxes with your child’s protection.
The baby will be placed in a foster-to-adoption program, which is different from foster care, following evaluation at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Newborns placed in the program are frequently adopted quickly, according to Kelsey.
