A Charles County man accused of killing his stepson over chores, according to authorities

The sheriff’s office claims that a man in Charles County shot and murdered his 15-year-old stepson on Wednesday after they got into a fight about raking leaves.

Officers from Charles County arrived at the 6400 block of Huntt Road in La Plata on November 20 at 12:11 a.m. in response to a shooting report.

According to Diane Richardson, a spokesman for Charles County police, there was a dispute earlier in the day regarding the minor’s failure to perform home tasks, such as leaf raking.

The caller stated that his 15-year-old stepson was shot by the suspect, 48-year-old Darshan Eric Williams, who resides at the residence. Officers saw the suspect standing outside when they got there, and he was put into custody without any problems.

Michael Edward Clemons, 15, was found unconscious and not breathing when Charles County police officers entered the house. Before paramedics came and declared the man dead on the spot, officers conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

“I had no idea how long Williams had lived there, and I was not aware of any past incidents in the household,” Richardson said.

Williams was accused of first-degree assault, second-degree murder, and other connected charges. At the moment, he is being held without bond at the Charles County Detention Center.
