A fatal crash has closed Highway 15-501 south of Aberdeen

Police closed a portion of Highway 15-501 after a fatal event near the intersection of Pee Dee Road. The collision happened on Saturday at approximately 10:45 a.m.

The driver of a Kia Seltos struck a casket vault truck after running a stop sign, according to a witness who spoke to Moore County News. The vault truck collided with a tree, and both cars veered off the road.

On the scene, the vault truck driver was declared dead. The driver of the Kia and one of the truck’s passengers were sent to a hospital.

While emergency personnel investigated and cleansed the area, the route stayed closed for a considerable amount of time.
