A Florida cop is accused of trafficking drugs and attempting to smuggle them onto a cruise ship to sell in Skittle packets

According to authorities, a Florida police officer who is charged with drug trafficking intended to carry drugs on a cruise and resell them in Skittles packets.

These charges led to the arrest of Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Deputy Francisco Melo last week.

WSVN-TV claims that Melo was dealing MDMA, which is also referred to as ecstasy or molly. Police went undercover and purchased cocaine from the former officer using a confidential source.

That insider also discovered Melo was going to take a Royal Caribbean cruise that featured an electronic dance festival, according to WSVN. Melo planned to sell pills in Skittles packages and smuggle drugs onto the ferry.

Detectives stopped Melo just before he boarded. The story claims that when police examined his suitcase, they found 60 MDMA pills.

According to the report, the tablets were identical to ones the defendant had previously purchased.

Miami-Dade After his arrest, Rosie Cordero-Stutz, a three-year veteran of the department, released a statement.

Narcotics not only hurt users, but they also ruin families and encourage criminal activity. In an interview with WSVN-TV, Cordero-Stutz said, “This person’s actions are a betrayal of the public trust and of all the deputies who work tirelessly to protect our community.”

Melo allegedly ran away when local reporters asked him about the accusations after they caught him exiting the jail.
