A Centertown man was sentenced to 60 years in jail for raping a child, according to a press statement issued by Cole County Prosecuting Attorney Locke Thompson.
Dean Jason Smith, 41, entered a guilty plea on September 10 to charges of incest, child molestation, first-degree rape, and endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held at the Cole County Jail.
The news statement states that Smith was found sexually abusing a juvenile by Cole County Sheriff’s officers after they were called to a car parked on the side of the road close to Centertown.
The release claimed that Smith had been abusing the young person for a number of years.
In 2011, Smith, a sexual offender in Moniteau County, entered a guilty plea to first-degree child molestation.
