Jersey CityAfter midnight on Thursday, Mayor Steven Fulop confirmed that a woman and her two children had been killed in a domestic violence incident.
A man attacked a lady and two children, ages five and nine, after breaking into a house on Hutton Street. According to Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s X account, he then tried to stab himself before being taken into custody.
In addition to third- and fourth-degree firearms violations, 31-year-old Napoleon Romero-Anduray is charged with three counts of first-degree murder. He remains in the Jersey City Medical Center hospital.
Social workers and chaplains are on hand to support bereaved residents.
The victims were not informed of the man’s identify or relationship by officials.
After 12:15 a.m., police found all four of the victims unconscious on the floor of the ground-level apartment.
At 1:12 a.m., 31-year-old Luisa Urbano was declared deceased at the scene.
After being taken to a hospital, the children, Juan Martin Urbano, age 9, and Diana Ramirez, age 5, were declared deceased.
