CINCINNATI – A man standing outside a stalled automobile near the Mitchell Ave exit on Interstate 75 was hit and killed early Sunday morning.

The Cincinnati Police Department’s Traffic Unit went to the site at 1:30 a.m. Authorities stated the incident occurred after a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu became disabled on the highway’s right embankment.

The vehicle’s occupants, a 47-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, were outside investigating the problem when a 2019 Honda Accord heading north lost control.

That car, driven by a 30-year-old man with a 28-year-old female passenger, drove off the right side of the road, colliding with the Chevrolet Malibu and the male pedestrian.

He suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by the Cincinnati Fire Department to University Hospital Medical Center, where he subsequently died.

According to police, no one else was harmed in the incident, and excessive speed and impairment are not considered to be factors.
