IllinoisAfter decapitating his fiancée, who was almost eight months pregnant, inside her house and discarding her head in a dumpster, a 25-year-old man from Illinois will spend several decades behind bars.

According to police, Deundrea S. Holloway was sentenced to 60 years in a state prison on Friday by Madison County Circuit Court Associate Judge Neil Schroeder for the savage 2022 murder of 22-year-old Liese A. Dodd and her unborn child.

Holloway had already entered a guilty plea to one count of concealing a homicidal death, intentional homicide of an unborn child, and first-degree murder.

He received concurrent sentences of 30 years for murder, 20 years for homicide, and 10 years for concealment.

Following an evaluation ordered by his defense lawyer, the court found Holloway mentally incompetent to stand trial, bringing an end to his protracted prosecution at the sentencing hearing.

The Illinois Supreme Court ruled that killing a mother and her unborn child cannot be counted as multiple murders for the sake of obtaining a life sentence, adding to the complexity in Holloway’s case.

These problems have led to constant worry and uncertainty for Liese’s family and loved ones. That ends with this guilty conviction.

Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine said in a statement announcing the sentence, “We hope that this conviction and sentence will be a step toward healing and provide some comfort to the family and loved ones.” Everyone found this case to be challenging.

It is obvious that Liese’s family has experienced trauma. They were spared the further trauma of a trial because to this resolution. My thoughts and prayers are with the family, who have endured this ordeal with such bravery, strength, and fortitude.

As previously reported by Law&Crime, on June 9, 2022, at around 12:59 p.m., Alton Police Department officers responded to a 911 call about a potential murder at a property in the 3400 block of Bolivar Street. When Dodd’s mother went to see how her daughter was doing, she found her headless body inside the house.

Later, Dodd’s head was discovered outside her apartment building in a trash can.

Then-Alton Police Chief Marcus Pulido said when Holloway was arrested, “What was observed, learned, and found was absolutely terrible.” Every murder is awful. I will always have that.

However, the fate of 22-year-old Liese Dodd, who had just moved to Alton, is just disgusting. It is repulsive. What happened to her is utterly awful.

According to Pulido, Holloway and Dodd dated intermittently for almost two years before to his murder of her.

He said that she had been brutally murdered. They beheaded her. A fierce beast severed his head. This also resulted in the death of her pregnant child.

Therefore, she and her unborn child were cruelly killed. At the end of June, this daughter, her pregnant mother, and her relatives were organizing a baby shower.

Before Holloway can be released, he must complete at least 52 years of his sentence.
