Authorities say they have arrested a suspect in Las Vegas in the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy in Long Beach that was linked to a gang.

The Long Beach Police Department says the shooting happened on August 4 in the 3300 block of 67th Street and killed the person.

Around 2:40 p.m. that day, police were called to the scene of multiple reports of a person shot in the street.

When they arrived, they saw the teenager with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper and lower bodies.

The Bell boy was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime.

Police said that a male relative had dropped him off in a car, he got out, and then came back soon after with a “group of unknown subjects.”

Soon after, there was a shooting that hit the boy and the relative’s car. The family member left the area and called the police right away.

That family member was treated at the scene for a minor injury to his upper body. Before the police arrived, the group had already left on foot.

Later, police identified Ronald Guidry, 41, of Torrance as a possible suspect. They got an arrest warrant for Guidry, and on October 17, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department found him and put him in jail.

“Search warrants were subsequently served in the cities of Las Vegas, Moreno Valley, Rialto and Perris where items of evidence were located and recovered,” said Long Beach police.

“This arrest is a big step toward justice for the young life that was taken in such a senseless crime,” said Wally Hebeish, the police chief. “Gang violence is not tolerated in our city, and our department remains steadfast in our commitment to hold those involved accountable.”
