While purchasing vegetables for his wife, a man from North Carolina won $2 million with a scratch-off lotto ticket.

Dallas resident Robert Moore claimed that he gave his wife the ticket to scratch after he got it back from the retailer.

Moore recalls her saying, “You need to come in here.” I was incredulous.

Moore, a retired soldier, won the first $2 million grand prize in the new game after buying his lucky $20 Win Big ticket at a Walmart on Dallas Cherryville Road.

When Moore got to lottery headquarters on Monday, he had to make a choice. He had the option of getting the prize in the form of a $1.2 million lump sum or as a $100,000 annuity spread over 20 years.

He selected a $1.2 million lump sum, and after federal and state taxes were deducted, he received $858,006 in total.

A week prior to receiving his award, Moore purchased a brand-new pickup truck, which he plans to pay for with some of his money.

Last month, the Win Big game made its premiere with six $100,000 prizes and three $2 million awards. Two $2 million and five $100,000 prizes are still up for grabs after Moore’s victory.
