A Richmond County mother is accused of giving her child LSD

ROCKINGHAM A mom is facing child abuse and narcotics charges after reportedly feeding acid to her toddler.

According to the arrest warrant, 31-year-old Desjonne Kalea Dawkins recently fed her child LSD, causing emotional injury to the child. The warrant specifies that the minor is under the age of sixteen.

Dawkins is also accused of trafficking psychedelics. While the specific amount is not specified, the warrant alleges that Dawkins possessed more than 100 but fewer than 500 LSD dosage units.

Deputies also reportedly discovered a tiny amount of marijuana, a grinder, two smoking pipes, and a marijuana tray.

Dawkins was arrested on Sunday, November 17 the listed offense date and charged with negligent child abuse with serious physical injury, trafficking in LSD, possession of LSD, delivery of LSD, possession of up to an ounce and a half of marijuana, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. The latter two charges are misdemeanors, while the first four are felonies.

She is being held at the Richmond County Jail on a $300,000 secured bond and is expected to appear in court on November 21.

Dawkins appears to have no prior criminal convictions or outstanding criminal charges in North Carolina.

All defendants who face criminal charges are deemed innocent until proven guilty in court.
