A man from San Bernardino County was taken into custody after he allegedly drove an off-road vehicle across a busy junction while carrying kids.

The Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station has identified the suspect as Adelanto resident Jacob Vidana-Delgado, 19.

A deputy observed the suspect operating a Polaris off-road vehicle close to the intersection of Mojave and Alexandria Streets in Adelanto at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Vidana-Delgado struck a busy crossroads with plenty of kids while driving at a fast speed, according to the authorities.

A pursuit ensued after the man refused to stop when deputies tried to pull him over.

Officials claim that Vidana-Delgado disregarded public safety, drove at dangerous speeds, accelerated, and failed to stop at designated intersections during the pursuit.

Eventually, the 19-year-old drove home, closely followed by deputies. Without any problems, they brought him into custody at the house.

He was arrested when he escaped from a peace officer and drove carelessly on a highway, disregarding public safety. The Polaris was towed off the property as well.

After the incident, there were no reported injuries. The Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Deputy M. Lewis can be reached at 760-552-6800. The case is still being investigated.
