Police say a 26-year-old woman was raped and beaten in the Bronx on Wednesday morning after being followed by an unknown individual.

Around 3:30 in the morning, the victim was strolling along Virginia Avenue close to Wood Avenue in Parkchester when the 21-year-old suspect, Gregory Williams, followed her, according to the cops.

According to authorities, the alleged predator then ambushed her by striking her right side multiple times before raping her.

After being transported to a nearby hospital, the victim’s status is reported as stable, according to police.

According to police, Williams, a resident of the Bronx, fled following the upsetting assault but was apprehended at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

The New York Police Department charged him with two counts of first-degree rape, third-degree assault, third-degree sexual abuse, and second-degree harassment.

On Wednesday night, Williams, wearing a black sweatshirt and red and black pajama pants, stayed silent as investigators escorted him out of an NYPD station house.
