Lt. Jonathan Cunningham, a spokesman for Cincinnati police, reported that two dogs mauled a 3-year-old in Roselawn on Friday, resulting in his death.

According to Cunningham, the assault happened inside a house in the 7000 block of Stillwell Road just after eight in the morning.

As of Saturday morning, neither the 3-year-old’s identification nor any other details surrounding the attack had been made public.

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office was called by the Enquirer, but at this time, no other information could be given.

The child’s death marks at least the third dog attack death in Ohio in 2024. After being bitten by his uncle’s dogs in Lorain, 6-year-old Jaxson Dvorak passed away in July 2024.

Jo Echelbarger, 73, was working in her neighbor’s garden in October when she was mauled to death by her neighbor’s two pit bull mix dogs.

In Ohio, local public health organizations get reports of about 17,000 dog bites annually. An further 17,000 bites are thought to go unreported, according to experts.

Of the 4.7 million persons bitten by dogs each year, 1 million need medical care.

Youngsters under 10 make up about half of all bite victims and are disproportionately killed.
