Following a dispute and threats against a Lyft driver and other passengers, a Florida lady is accused of shooting her own daughter.

Local 10 reports that Melissa Valbrum, 32, got into a confrontation with someone in the McDonald’s parking lot in Miami’s Pinewood neighborhood, which is situated on Northwest Seventh Avenue close to 91st Street.

The publication continued by outlining Valbrum’s arrest record, which stated that just after 10 p.m. on Friday, she threatened a Lyft driver and his three passengers in the parking lot of the well-known American fast-food business.

She was accused of threatening one of the Lyft passengers with her gun after she thought they were pointing it at her. During the ensuing back and forth, the revolver unintentionally fired, hitting Valbrum’s daughter.

She subsequently admitted to the police that it had been in her waistband when it fell and unintentionally discharged. However, local police said that shortly prior to the incident, the Miami lady was seen using the weapon to knock on the windows of the Lyft vehicle in both phone and camera footage.

Detective Andre D. Martin, a spokesperson for the Miami-Dade Police Department, stated in an official statement that an adult female accidently discharged a handgun. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.

Additionally, the passengers came forward to tell the police that, while they had been pointing, Valbrum was not involved. According to reports, the traveler let the other members of their group know that the Lyft had come.

All of this happened inside the restaurant, according to CBS News. In support of her mother’s story, Valbrum’s 15-year-old daughter, who will remain anonymous, told police that the Lyft riders were pointing at Valbrum inside the restaurant rather than outside during their journey.

The girl was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, home of the Ryder Trauma Center, by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel after the incident. According to reports, the 15-year-old girl was hit in the shoulder by the gunshots.

As of Sunday, the teen’s condition was stable, according to NBC Miami. Following her booking, Valbrum was charged with four charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one offense of battery, and one crime of causing physical injury or culpable carelessness at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
