The Ohio State Buckeyes seem to have received a significant boost as they prepare to play their bitter rival Michigan Wolverines on Saturday.
Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports reports that Michigan cornerback Will Johnson, who has been sidelined for over a month because of a toe injury sustained on October 19, is not anticipated to play against Ohio State.
This is significant since Johnson is a top national cornerback and a top 2025 NFL Draft prospect.
In six games this season, Johnson has had 14 tackles and two interceptions, both of which have led to scores.
The 21-year-old, who joined Michigan in 2022, was a complete nightmare in his first two games with the Buckeyes. Last November, he recorded a huge interception against Ohio State.
After an eight-game winning streak against Big Ten opponents, the Buckeyes have dropped their last three games with the Wolverines.
This season, of course, things are drastically different.
Michigan has been struggling to stay afloat, starting the game at 6-5, while Ohio State is 10-1 and in the running for a national championship.
In terms of pride and the opportunity to win the Big Ten title, Ohio State just cannot afford to lose to Michigan again.
This weekend, we’ll see if the Buckeyes can halt their losing streak in Columbus.
