On Sunday afternoon, N.C. Highway 24-27 was stopped for about an hour because of a crash between two cars and a motorcycle.

After 3:15 p.m., first rescuers were sent to the scene on Marley Road and found a motorcyclist on the ground.

The authorities called for help right away, and UNC Carolina Air Care arrived near the scene of the crash within minutes. The motorcycle rider was flown to UNC-Chapel Hill.

Police say the motorbike was going east on Highway 24-27, following an Acura RDX. When the car pulled up behind a truck going left onto Marley Road, the motorcyclist hit the back of the car.

Another person in the Acura was hurt and was taken to the hospital by paramedics.

Between Plank Road and Flint Hill Church Road, the highway was closed.
