An Alabama man charged with murder allegedly killed another person while out on bail after his ankle monitor failed.

According to Mobile County jail records, Nyyon Sanders is charged with both homicide and robbery.

According to AL.com, WKRG, and WALA, Sanders was out on bond after being charged with a 2022 homicide. According to the outlets, authorities believe Sanders traveled to an apartment complex after waiting for his ankle monitor to die.

Sanders is accused of killing 25-year-old Joseph Evans Jr. and injuring another person while visiting the apartment complex, according to media reports.

According to AL.com, Sanders had been released on $200,000 bail in connection with the 2022 homicide, which occurred when the defendant was a minor. According to WALA, the trial for the first incident is planned for January.

It is unclear whether Sanders has hired an attorney or filed a plea to the latest accusations.

It s just an absolute worst-case scenario that everyone in the community dreads, said District Attorney Keith Blackwood to WALA. From what I understand Sanders allowed his ankle monitor to go dead after 5 p.m. and within four hours had committed the murder.

According to WALA, Blackwood blames the private company that uses anklets to track detainees. Previously, the site reported that the same corporation failed to disclose when a separate murder suspect reportedly broke his release conditions by visiting a Mississippi casino.

Yet another case where you ve got a private ankle monitoring company that was tasked with monitoring someone that s out on bond, Blackwood said, according to the site. That did not happen in this case and this defendant is alleged to have committed yet another murder.

Blackwood reportedly stated that the sheriff s office would require additional cash to take over the ankle monitoring system.
