Altoona woman accused of threatening 2 people with a 12-inch knife in front of police

After police went to an apartment and saw a woman with a kitchen knife, she made threats to stab two other women. The woman was then arrested.

After police were called to a home on the 900 block of 7th Avenue around 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct.

19, 52-year-old Jill Maxwell is facing a number of charges, including multiple aggravated assaults with a deadly weapon, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, and other charges connected to those events.

The statement of probable cause says that Altoona police went to the building, which is a duplex with two units next to each other, and knocked on the door on the right side of the porch.

Two women soon came out of the door on the left side of the porch, which had a three-foot wall between it and the outside.

Police said Maxwell came out of the right door with a 12-inch kitchen knife and started yelling and screaming at the women while pointing the knife at them while they were talking to the police.

Authorities said they used their taser and told Maxwell several times to drop the knife before she finally did.

The charges say that she then tried to get back into her apartment. When she started to fight back, the cop stopped her and tried to hold her. She could be held until more police officers arrived.

The complaint says Maxwell kept fighting back until several police officers had to pick her up and put her in the back of a car. After that, she had to be taken from the police car to the station.
