Arrest made in fatal Angola hit-and-run accident involving pedestrian; individual died identified as 78-year-old male

An arrest has been made in relation to a pedestrian hit-and-run accident that was fatal in Angola, according to the Angola Police Department. A 78-year-old man has been identified as the crash victim.

The department reports that a car heading north struck and killed a person before continuing north at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Friday in the 2200 block of North Wayne Street, close to Flagstar Bank and Culver’s.

Alisha Garza, 39, of Anderson, surrendered herself to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday at approximately 2:00 p.m., the department said.

Simultaneously, the Angola Police Department reported that they got an anonymous tip.

Garza admitted to the murder after being examined by the Angola Police Department and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office. He was jailed for a Level 4 felony—leaving the scene of a deadly crash.

The crash claimed the life of Terry Coffey Sr., 78, of Hudson.

Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
