At least 1 dead as multiple crashes near Vallejo snarl eastbound Interstate Highway 80 traffic

The California Highway Patrol reports that several collisions on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Solano County early Tuesday morning resulted in at least one fatality.

Officers discovered a collision in the freeway’s eastbound lanes about west of Vallejo and west of the American Canyon Road off-ramp at approximately 5:15 a.m., according to the CHP. According to investigators, there was more than one crash involving multiple automobiles.

According to KCBS, the collision caused a significant backlog in a post on X that featured a picture from a Caltrans camera that showed a lot of traffic in the region.

The CHP said that three lanes were shut as a result of the collision and advised drivers to stay away from the area and take other routes while police conducted their investigation.

As approximately 8:30 a.m., authorities verified that the area had been cleaned and all lanes had reopened.
