A newborn boy was found dead in an alleyway in Los Angeles after being dumped from a building’s fourth floors window, according to authorities.
The newborn was spotted early Thursday morning in downtown Los Angeles’ Skid Row neighborhood, which also has one of the country’s largest stable homeless populations.
Firefighters responded to the call at 5:27 a.m. and pronounced the newborn deceased at the spot. Police suspect the baby was dropped from the building immediately after birth.
Investigators tracked down a woman who had been taken to a local hospital for pelvic hemorrhage a few hours before the baby was discovered. The woman was detained for questioning and then released pending further investigation, according to authorities.
No other information was immediately provided.
