Great Dog Rescue New England, a dedicated foster-based dog rescue in Massachusetts, recently introduced Lucy Marshmallow, a charming five-year-old Bichon Frise and Miniature Poodle mix who recently came into rescue care through no fault of her own.
Lucy originally had a family of her own whom she had been living with since she was young. Unfortunately, that family surrendered her when they found out she was diabetic.
“They would not be able to keep up with her insulin with their schedules and would rather give her a life with a loving family who can give her the love and support she deserves,” said GDRNE.
Luckily, the rescue was there to take her into their care, and she has since been placed with a loving foster family that can keep up with her needs until she finds her true forever family.
Weighing just 12 pounds, Lucy represents the perfect blend of sweetness and resilience. “Lucy Marshmallow is a beautiful Bichon Frise / Miniature Poodle mix with a gentle heart and adorable personality,” shares her foster caregiver.
Her presence in foster care has revealed a dog with an extraordinary capacity for love and friendship, forming bonds with both humans and fellow canines alike. What sets her apart is her delightful personality and endearing habits. “She will keep you laughing between her tippy-toe dance and as she curls up in your lap for a cuddle,” her foster parent notes. She loves attention, belly rubs, and being her person’s very own shadow.
Lucy’s impeccable leash manners and house training demonstrate her excellent behavioral foundation. She comes spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.
As far as her diabetes is concerned, potential adopters will be pleased to know that Lucy Marshmallow comes with transferable pet insurance that covers 80% of her insulin costs. This makes her medical management more accessible for her future family.

Based in Massachusetts, Great Dog Rescue New England (GDRNE) is a 501(C)(3) non-profit, shelterless, all-breed rescue group. They consist of volunteers throughout New England who love dogs and want to help them escape homelessness.
