The California Highway Patrol reported on Monday that a car killed a boy on northbound Interstate Highway 280 in Santa Clara County last week.
Around 10:55 p.m. on Friday, patrol officers were notified of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian, according to the San Jose CHP office.
A six-year-old kid was found on the right shoulder of northbound I-280, close to the unincorporated settlement of Burbank and south of Leland Avenue, according to the preliminary inquiry. According to reports, a 2024 Nissan Altima driven by a 36-year-old San Jose man struck the youngster after he ran into one of the freeway’s lanes.
The youngster was taken to the hospital after suffering serious injuries, where he was ultimately declared dead.
The CHP reports that the area’s northbound lanes on the expressway were blocked for about an hour following the deadly collision.
Investigations into the crash are still ongoing. The victim’s identification has not yet been made public.
