Two residents from Adelanto, Allen Curcio Adams Jr. and Alexander Brice Alvarado, both aged 21, recently pleaded guilty to charges linked to a shooting that took place at a Palm Desert mall.

The charges include attempted murder, assault with a firearm, and two counts of assault causing significant injuries. The court proceedings were held at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.

Judge Kristi Hester sentenced both men to 16 years in state prison immediately after their guilty pleas.

According to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, this sentence came after a set of initial charges were amended to fit the evidence presented.

The original charges against Adams and Alvarado were more severe, including four counts of attempted murder, shooting at a vehicle, and illegal possession of a firearm. However, these charges were updated in court as new information surfaced.

The incident that led to these charges took place on February 2, 2023, at around 2 p.m.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department were called to the scene following reports of gunfire at a mall located on Highway 111 in Palm Desert.

Upon investigation, authorities discovered that the incident was a gang-related car-to-car shooting involving more than 40 rounds.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the shooting. Shortly after the event, two individuals from Desert Hot Springs were taken into custody as people of interest.

After further investigation, they were identified as potential victims and were released without any charges.

Following the investigation, authorities identified Adams and Alvarado as the primary suspects.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Palm Desert Investigations Bureau and the Riverside County Gang Impact Team, conducted a search at a residence on Hyattsville Street in Adelanto.
