In a major breakthrough for the Dutchess County Drug Task Force, a local Beacon resident has been arrested in connection with illegal narcotics sales.

The suspect, 37-year-old George Cintron, is now facing serious charges related to drug possession and firearms, following an undercover investigation that exposed his involvement in selling dangerous substances like cocaine and fentanyl.

The Dutchess County Drug Task Force, well-known for its ongoing efforts to dismantle narcotics operations across the county, launched this latest operation in Beacon.

Undercover agents successfully identified Cintron as a key dealer, purchasing fentanyl from him during their investigation.

This provided enough evidence to secure a search warrant for Cintron’s residence, located in close proximity to where he was apprehended.

On October 17, 2024, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office officers, along with Emergency Services Unit members, executed the search warrant at Cintron’s home.

Upon searching the property, they found a significant stash of narcotics and a firearm. Items seized included:

  • 16 ounces of cocaine
  • Fentanyl
  • Ecstasy
  • An illegal “Ghost” handgun, which is untraceable due to its lack of a serial number

Cintron was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree, which is one of the most severe drug charges under New York law.

If convicted, this charge could result in a life sentence and a fine of up to $100,000. Additionally, Cintron faces a firearms charge for possession of the illegal Ghost handgun.

This firearms charge carries a potential sentence of 2-7 years in prison, with parole not being an option due to the violent nature of the offense.
