According to authorities, early on Wednesday morning, burglars in Oakland crashed a box truck into a liquor store and then drove another car into the front of a bank.

The first event took place in the city’s Highland Park neighborhood at the 2600 block of 14th Avenue. According to Oakland police, when officers arrived shortly before 3:45 a.m., they discovered a liquor store that had sustained major damage from a box truck that was still there.

According to the police, authorities discovered that many individuals had stolen a number of items before escaping the scene in at least one further car. Although it was unclear if the ATM was stolen, it looked like it was targeted at the company.

A little more than a mile east of the initial incident, officers responded minutes later to a Chase Bank branch located in the city’s Lower Dimond area on the 3400 block of Fruitvale Avenue. The truck also caused similar damage to the facade around the ATMs and the front of the bank, which was mostly unharmed.

Whether anything was taken from the bank remained unclear. According to the police, the damage may be related to the intruders who broke into the booze store.

Anyone with information regarding either crime is encouraged to call the department’s burglary squad at (510) 238-3951, according to the police. Investigators encouraged anyone who had access to images or video that might be useful to forward them to [email protected].
