Caitlin Clark Takes Steps Towards Becoming a Professional Sports Team Owner

Bringing a National Women’s Soccer League franchise to Cincinnati is something Caitlin Clark is very interested in.

She’s so interested in it, in fact, that she’s a member of the ownership group trying to get a team to the area.

By the end of 2024, Cincinnati, a finalist for a NWSL expansion team, will know if it has been selected. Cincinnati will start play in 2026 as the 16th NWSL team if it wins.

The proposal team told ESPN that the NWSL Cincinnati bid team is excited that Caitlin Clark has joined our ownership group in their quest to bring a women’s professional soccer team to our community.

She is an essential component of our strong campaign to become the 16th team in the NWSL because of her love for the game, dedication to advancing women’s sports in and around the Greater Cincinnati area, and impact as an athlete and role model for women and girls worldwide.

Clark, a prominent WNBA player who recently won Rookie of the Year, will also be a minority owner if Cincinnati is given the club. She finished the season averaging 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game, which helped the Fever qualify for the playoffs.

Since 2025 will just be her second season in the league, she hopes for more. She has inspired a lot of people in recent years and is largely responsible for the WNBA’s surge in new fans.
