A California man has been arrested and is now facing federal charges for allegedly threatening to carry out violent acts against companies in Massachusetts.
Authorities say that 34-year-old Daniel Nguyen made a series of disturbing voicemails in which he claimed he would “shoot up” these companies using an AK-47.
Nguyen was taken into custody on Thursday and charged with transmitting threats across state lines. The charges were filed in a federal court in San Francisco, as confirmed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Massachusetts.
The incidents reportedly took place between January 2024 and February 2024.
During this period, Nguyen allegedly made five separate calls to businesses based in Massachusetts, leaving threatening voicemails about carrying out office shootings.
According to court documents, he warned that the situation would turn into a “bloodbath,” with explicit language indicating his violent intentions.
Beyond the threats to Massachusetts-based companies, Nguyen is also accused of making racially charged threats to individuals in Nevada and California.
He allegedly stated his intention to target people based on their race, using offensive and discriminatory language.
The charge of transmitting a threat in interstate commerce is serious.
