In fiscal year 2025, the Social Security Administration (SSA) increased the maximum payment to $4,018 for SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) benefits.
A person’s typical income before being disabled determines how much they get. Payouts are often higher for those with greater earnings and more years of contributions.
Beneficiaries must have worked for many years, attained the maximum Social Security tax limit (FICA) multiple times, and accumulated enough income to pay maximum Social Security taxes for at least 35 years in order to be eligible for the maximum amount.
There is a work credit requirement for this, which usually means accumulating 40 credits, or about 10 years of experience.
The 2025 maximum payment for claimants who simultaneously receive SSI is $967 for an individual, $1,450 for a couple, and $484 for an essential support person.

Although the SSA does not distribute payments on weekends or holidays, if you also get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits, the next payment date has been rescheduled from Saturday, March 1 to February 28. Additionally, the January payment was sent on January 31st instead of February 1st.
