CHP has seized an arsenal during the arrest of a Vallejo man who is alleged to have fired a gun on I-80

Authorities say that the California Highway Patrol recently arrested a man who is suspected of shooting someone on a freeway last month while shooting from a moving car.

Victor Hugo France, Jr., 43, was arrested at his home in Vallejo around 7 a.m. Thursday by CHP detectives.

During the search, police found 18 guns, including 9 handguns and 9 rifles, as well as ammunition and what they thought were drugs for sale.

At around 6 p.m. on September 11, the CHP’s Solano Area office was called to a report of a shooting on Interstate 80, east of Tennessee Street in Vallejo.

People who saw the man said he was driving on the freeway and firing a gun into the air.

Detectives were given information about the suspect’s car, including its license plate number. That and the Flock Safety camera system helped them find France.

France was arrested and taken to the Solano County Jail on suspicion of accidently firing a gun, having a short barrel rifle, an assault weapon, illegally transferring a firearm, and having drugs for sale.
